WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE FOR TREATMENT?
Early Treatment Photo 1
We provide treatment for patients of all age groups.  We enjoy working with our younger patients in order to help them obtain a healthy smile for life.  Adolescent patients can especially benefit from a full and beautiful smile.  Helping to build self-esteem and giving our teenage patients the confidence that they need to be successful in life is a privilege that we will always cherish.  However, it is never too late in life to embrace your smile!  More adults than ever before are realizing the benefits of orthodontic treatment.  In fact, 25% of all orthodontic treatment is provided to adult patients.

YOUNG PATIENTS

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children see an orthodontic specialist for a screening by age 7.  The first permanent molars and incisors have usually erupted by that time, and crossbites, crowding, and other potential problems can be evaluated.  Sometimes it is necessary to do an early phase of interceptive care to guide incoming permanent teeth and to eliminate certain problems that might cause unfavorable growth of the jaws.  In certain situations, early treatment can eliminate the need for permanent tooth extractions and often leads to a shorter comprehensive phase of care once all the permanent teeth have erupted.

ADOLESCENT TREATMENT
Early Treatment Photo 2 Many agree that a healthy smile is a confident smile.  Adolescence tends to be the most popular and effective time for treatment.  Orthodontic treatment by Dr. Cormney can help our community's teenagers feel good about themselves and smile with confidence.

Orthodontics is much more than simply straightening crooked teeth.  Orthodontic treatment can also correct an under bite, overbite, a dysfunctional smile, as well as a sunken or protruding chin.  Proper tooth and jaw alignment have a significant impact on long-term oral health.
